Ben's Guesthouse Kyoto

For the price, this is a really good deal. The room is quite large and has both a kitchen and washer, and you can use the shower room to dry laundry. I also used the luggage transfer service, which worked flawlessly. It is a bit far from the train station, and I'm not keen on taking Kyoto buses, but walking works for me.

Ben and his staff were so friendly and helpful, and Ben’s guesthouse was just right for our family of four while visiting Kyoto. The room was spacious by Japan standards and had everything we needed. The beds were the most comfortable we slept in during our three weeks in Japan, and the sheets were so soft I want the same ones at home. Thanks to Ben and the team!

I had a great time at Ben’s Guesthouse and would consider staying there again if I return to Kyoto. The owner speaks English pretty well, so communication is easy. It's affordable, quiet, near convenience stores, and the rooms aren't tiny. The bus station is a 5-10 minute walk depending on your pace. The tradeoff is that it's not close to the major attractions.

After a week of trekking, we really needed somewhere that felt like home, and Ben came through. Our family of four stayed in the family suite, which had four beds, a kitchenette, and a washing machine. It was well set up for us. We’d happily recommend it.
