Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto Ekimae PREMIER

For a hotel described as four stars, the service fell short. Staff spoke little or no English, and nobody offered to help with my suitcases at the entrance, even though employees said hello and pointed out where to go as I struggled. I had to ask directly. Not a pleasant experience. Check-in and checkout through machines were clumsy. Breakfast was basic, without a fresh coffee machine, and there's no room service. The bed was just okay, and nearby buildings made up most of the view. The hotel is updated, with rooms a bit larger than the usual Japan standard, cleaned daily, and windows that open a little for fresh air. Wi-Fi worked well, and I could plug a network cable into my laptop for a steadier connection. The location is very good: a few minutes from Kyoto station with easy underground access, buses, convenience stores, restaurants, Kyoto Tower, and Nishi Hongan-ji Temple. There's also a coin laundry, microwave, and drink vending machines. To me, it felt more like a good three-star hotel than the four-star rating in its description.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive to details. I was expecting a parcel, and they followed their usual procedure to accept it for me. I'm truly grateful. The hotel is close to Kyoto Station, and my room was tidy and clean, with good space for one person. I'd definitely recommend Daiwa Roynet. Thank you.

It was a really comfortable stay, even though I could nitpick. Getting here is easy from the subway or from street level, and a bus stop about five minutes away takes you around Kyoto. The room didn't feel small, though a family of three might find it short on space. The bathtub is well designed, the amenities are great, especially the bath salt, and both types of complimentary coffee were good quality. Breakfast was at the usual outstanding Daiwa Roynet level, with local Kyoto dishes. Great stay.

The room was roomier than most I’ve had in Japan and had everything I needed. Kyoto Station is only a three-minute walk away, though the main attractions take about 30 minutes to reach on foot. Staff were warm and welcoming. They don’t clean rooms each day unless you ask, but fresh towels are left outside your door daily. I’d book here again.
