DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Station

The executive lounge team made our stay memorable, especially Murat, Mao, Yubin, and Saki. Murat was warm, attentive, and quick to help, including when my elderly mom needed assistance. He anticipated what we might need, suggested things to do around the city, and always greeted us with a smile. Mao made sure we were comfortable during lounge visits, Yubin shared great tips for restaurants, coffee shops, and attractions, and Saki helped arrange a tea ceremony. Their kindness made the lounge a highlight of our trip. At breakfast, the omelette station chefs also deserve thanks. The senior chef, an older male, remembered my order each time, made it beautifully, and greeted me with a smile that brightened my day. DoubleTree Kyoto Station recognized our Diamond status and gave us a room upgrade, which we appreciated. We highly recommend the hotel and will definitely return.

The room was a comfortable place to come back to after a day out. It was clean, modern, and thoughtfully arranged, with a nice seating area, a comfy chair, and complimentary coffee that I enjoyed each morning. The staff were warm, helpful, and welcoming throughout our stay. There’s a lovely scent when you enter, and the lobby’s darker, soft lighting gives it a calm, upscale feel. The location near Kyoto Station made it easy to get around the city. We had a very pleasant stay, and I’d happily return or recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Kyoto.

The main drawbacks were tied to a few specific details. Coming in from the parking area means walking through the smoking section, and cigarette smell lingers between the two lobby doors. The parking instructions at check-in were also a bit complicated. Our room, 902, was beside the lounge food prep area, so early morning footsteps, carts, and the smell of coffee and food made it hard to get back to sleep. This seems like it may only affect certain rooms. We ate at the restaurant once and liked the food, though we were told Hilton Honors Diamond dining discounts weren’t available in January. Apart from those issues, the stay was excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive, and professional, and the location is convenient for Kyoto Station and many attractions while remaining in a quieter, less crowded area. It felt more relaxed than the other DoubleTree closer to the temples. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a table that could seat four or five, a fridge, coffee machine and pods, kettle, tea, and cups. The king bed was one of the best we’ve had at a Hilton. The bathroom had separate toilet, sink, shower, and bathtub areas, which made it comfortable to use. The modern exterior and roomy, clean, well-designed lobby made a great first impression, and check-in was quick and smooth. We’d gladly stay again and recommend it to other Kyoto visitors.

Andy and Mao were especially kind and helpful with directions, restaurant recommendations, and our luggage. Their warm service really made the stay memorable. The room was spotless, well maintained, and cozy, with modern amenities. It was also impressively spacious by Japanese hotel standards, with room to move around, store luggage, and relax after sightseeing. The hotel is a short walk from Kyoto Station, handy for the Shinkansen and day trips around Kansai, yet it stayed quiet and peaceful. For the brand and location, we felt we got a lot for the price. I had a fantastic stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto and would absolutely recommend it.
