For the price, this place has some good points. It’s quiet, in a quiet neighborhood with only a few tourists around, and close to a subway station, so getting around Kyoto is easy. There’s room service every second day, which I liked because it’s good for the environment, and a free laundry machine. You just need to buy detergent for 100 yen. The mattress was the hardest I’ve ever slept on. There’s only one power plug in the room, and it isn’t near the bed. There’s no small mirror in the room either, so to do your makeup you have to stand in the bathroom.

The neighborhood was peaceful, and the staff were warm and respectful. Our room was kept very clean and up to a high standard. For the price, the quality and service were great. There were nice extras too: filter coffee available through the day, plus breakfast rolls if you got there early enough.

We stayed four nights and would have added another, but the hotel was full, so book early. The room was spacious, clean, and worked well without any fuss, and the rates were very reasonable. It’s tucked away on a quiet, safe side street near major sights and Gion. There’s no JR station within walking distance, though Kyoto buses are useful anyway. Little things made the stay comfortable: a sitting area and kitchen for eating a “seven-eleven dinner,” free umbrellas, excellent laundry facilities, and mini croissants for breakfast. We’ll stay here next time we’re in Kyoto.

The beds were very hard, and breakfast was just three small breads per person with tea or coffee. We picked up extra food at a nearby convenience store. Still, the hotel suited us fine as a basic place to sleep while enjoying Kyoto. Its best feature was the location, about a 10-minute walk from central Kyoto, and umbrellas were available to borrow for free.

The stairs are a bit of a workout, but they even show how many calories you’re burning, which is a cute touch. There’s no elevator. The staff were friendly, and it was easy to get around Kyoto from the nearby subway and bus stops. Downstairs there’s a pleasant spot to eat and massage chairs, and you can borrow umbrellas and Yukatas for free. Laundry was a lifesaver. The rooms were comfortable, though a little small, especially the bathrooms. Highly recommend.
