We loved staying in a Machiya Inn town house while traveling around Japan. This one sits in a peaceful neighborhood by the takase river, with cute shops and nice places to walk nearby. The train station is close too. Definitely recommend it!

We had to cancel our Japan trip after our tourism visa was unexpectedly rejected, something completely beyond our control. We sent the official documents confirming the rejection, but this machiya still refused any refund, even a partial one. Airlines, hotels, and activity providers we booked with were understanding and refunded us, including some bookings marked non-refundable. The machiya's lack of flexibility and empathy was deeply disappointing and made the whole experience incredibly frustrating.

The Zen garden out back was wonderful, and the place was so nice and clean. Staying in a historical ryokan made for a really unique experience.

A great option for foreigners. It was very clean, and there were lots of useful things available to rent.
