We were a little unsure how our three boys would manage such a peaceful place, but all of us ended up enjoying it. The staff welcomed us within minutes of our smooth check-in, held a matcha ceremony, and explained how everything worked. The fridge was stocked with water, soft drinks, and beer. It's a great base for exploring Kyoto, with an easy walk to the train. One of our nicest stays. My wife and I will be back, maybe without the kids next time, haha.

I only had one night here, and left wishing I'd stayed longer. We got to experience a matcha tea ceremony during that short visit, and our host was so kind and hospitable, with great food recommendations. The 100 year old house has the best up to date amenities, and there are lots of nice restaurants and shopping centres nearby. I definitely left wanting more.

The nearby bakeries, restaurants, market, and other amenities made it feel like we were living in Kyoto for a few days. We stayed in an incredibly well designed and upgraded Machiya house, with good service, and the uncovered garden bathtub was an amazing perk in winter. It's a very different alternative to a traditional hotel.

That peaceful outdoor bath was unbelievably serene, a real oasis. After a hectic but fun first leg in Tokyo, this was a lovely change of pace and a great way to settle into Kyoto. The place has loads of charm, with a wonderful old and new mix, amazing staff, and fantastic dinner and breakfast. Not one negative thing to say. One of the most amazing places we've ever stayed.

Staying at a historical inn in Japan's ancient capital felt really special. The matcha making with the amazing service was definitely a highlight, and I loved relaxing in the outside bath too. One of my best experiences in Kyoto. I'd definitely stay again.
