Hauza Kyoto Gojo Karasuma

The shower was the best I've ever had. The full body setup and incredible water pressure left me totally relaxed after a long day walking, and the AC was just right on a hot night. The staff were kind, everything was clean, and I loved the place. I'd stay again for sure.

The location is really convenient and the price was decent, though the rooms are small. Staff were okay at communicating. They kept our luggage on checkout day and gave us soup each morning, both appreciated. A shower made the room feel very hot, and the bathroom and entry shared a tiny space. They don't ship bags for you. Many hotels in Japan will send luggage to your next destination, or you can try to do it yourself, which is hard with the language barrier. The coded room locks also didn't feel safe to me personally.

The rooms were roomy enough, the beds comfortable, and the nightly price was excellent. Gojo subway is nearby, just one stop from Kyoto Station, and honestly you'll probably be out exploring Kyoto most of the time. It's a little hotel tucked down an alley, easy to walk right past at first. It's clean and simple to get around, but doesn't offer much in the way of amenities. There's a tiny garden out front, and a washer and dryer on the first floor by the vending machines, 500 yen total. For checkout, put the sign on your door and drop the checkout paper in the box by 10:00am that day.

The room was spacious and very nice, with several amenities and food in the fridge. The staff were friendly, and it was easy to get around Kyoto from here, whether walking toward the more central food and shopping areas or elsewhere. The hotel sits down a narrow alley, but inside it has a lovely atmosphere.
