The rooms and the rest of the facility are well equipped, but our check-in experience made it impossible for me to give a higher rating. We received the room number and access code through booking.com, and the codes got us into the hotel without trouble. But when we opened our assigned room, there was luggage, shoes, and an unmade bed. Someone was clearly still staying there. At first we thought a guest had simply failed to check out on time. There was no staff at the hotel then, so we couldn’t confirm, and that alone would have been bad since the room wouldn’t be clean for us. We contacted staff through booking, and they said there had been a booking error and we’d been assigned an occupied room. They said they would sort it out. We waited 30 minutes for someone to arrive, then another 20 while they tried the codes on all the rooms and went inside, even when people might have been in them. Eventually we got another room, but we still had the code for the other guests’ room. We could have gone in and taken their things. We didn’t feel safe leaving our belongings behind, so we carried anything we didn’t want to lose. Other guests told us the same thing had happened to them at check-in, arriving to find an occupied room.
