Dormy Inn Premium Kyoto Ekimae Natural Hot Spring

The onsen was a little crowded pretty much all the time, but I love the Dormy Inn group and usually try to book here when I visit Japan. The staff are well trained and the service is excellent. We had a twin room, and the USB ports and adjustable lights on each bed’s headboard were really useful, so we didn’t need a power adapter. It’s about a five-minute walk to Kyoto train station, including the wait at the traffic lights.

Probably the best hotel of my Japan trip. It’s close to Kyoto station, and the room felt spacious, with a good layout and useful touches like USB ports by the bed. There’s lots included: laundry, though not the dryer, the onsen, ice cream, and late-night ramen. Breakfast was good too.

The rooms aren’t huge, but the cozy feel, amenities, staff, and location make this a great place to rest in Kyoto. We got there before the 3pm check-in, and the staff kept our bags while we went out. When we came back around 7pm, they’d already brought everything to our room. The walk from the train station is quick, too. Make time for the on-site onsen and the other included extras. Having a washer and dryer there helped us a lot. We also both had 30-minute massages for around $25.00 each, and they were impressive and relaxing. We were really happy with our three days at the Dormy Inn in Kyoto.

The free extras were a real highlight of our five-night stay: delicious buffet breakfast with mostly Japanese food and some Western choices, ice cream, Yakult, and soba noodles at night. The onsen on the 9th floor was clean and comfortable. It was never crowded while we were there, so we could relax, and there’s a free washing machine nearby. The dryer costs 100 yen for 20 minutes, which was so convenient. Our twin room was a good size compared with rooms at most Japanese hotels, and the daily cleaning left it spotless. The cleaning staff called to ask if we wanted service. Kyoto station is only a few minutes away on foot, and Lawson is right next door. Dormy wasn’t our first choice because we were considering the viral hotel on social media. After looking into it, we found Dormy had similar services without seeming as overhyped or overcrowded, so we switched and didn’t regret it. Thanks for a great stay. We’ll definitely return to Japan and stay here again.
