Hokke Club Kyoto Hotel

For a place to sleep while exploring Kyoto, it was perfectly fine, neat, and tidy, just nothing special. The rooms felt standard. Ours had no outside window, so it was a little dark and dingy. The big plus is that it's right across from Kyoto station.

Check-in and checkout were smooth, and the staff were helpful. It's a good-value three-star hotel right in front of Kyoto Station, with most things provided. There's a self-service laundry room and a microwave. Just note that there's no bottled water in the room: you can drink the tap water or go to the lobby for the dispenser.

The hotel is right beside Kyoto station, just across the road. I liked the friendly, smiling reception staff, and there was free tea and coffee in the reception area for anyone waiting. The rooms had the facilities we needed, and the in-house restaurant served authentic Japanese food in a pleasant setting.

The staff were especially thoughtful and welcoming, and the room worked well for us, with full amenities in the bath and toilet. The hotel is right outside JR Kyoto, with the subway just a very short walk away. It's also right in the middle of Kyoto.
