Hotel & Spa Lotus – Adults Only

There’s a ton available here: a huge room and bed, giant TV, surround sound, kitchenette, onsen, steam room, massage chair, and a tablet for ordering drinks, food, and other fun things any time of day. I’ve been to island resorts with less on offer. Thanks, Hotel and Spa Lotus! Just know it’s very adult oriented, with toys and things in the room. That didn’t bother us, but it’s good to know what you’re booking. The location isn’t ideal for sightseeing, though it’s manageable if you don’t mind walking a bit to Takeda station. There’s also an express bus nearby that gets to Kyoto Station quickly. Breakfast was very salty and not great, but the other room service food we ordered was fine. I’d strongly recommend it to friends or couples looking for a unique hotel stay.

The main drawbacks were the sightseeing location and mold in our bathroom, room 202. We didn’t realize the hotel was also a love hotel, but that was no issue. For breakfast you can pick Japanese or Western each day, and they bring it to your room. The karaoke and billiard room was a fun extra, though the furniture was a little old and it smelled of cigarettes. For what we paid, the service was outstanding. The staff were so friendly, and the room was spacious and really nice, with a big bed, sofa, giant TV, massage chair, large tub, fridge, table and chairs, toothbrushes, hair bands, sleeping gowns, and more.

The room was enormous, maybe 600 square feet or more, and felt more like an apartment. It had a king bed, dining area, couch, massive TV, and a huge bath and shower with a jacuzzi. There were lots of leaflets, and one offered free food, which we assumed couldn’t be right, but it was. The pool room and rooftop open-air onsen-style bath were free too, though we were too busy to use them. Breakfast was included, and we picked what we wanted and when to have it delivered. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk from the station. There’s apparently a bus, but we didn’t use it. The place looked quite upscale when we arrived. The receptionist spoke very little English, but she and we both had translation apps, so check-in was easy. It’s definitely a love hotel. We didn’t mind and found it pretty funny since we hadn’t known. There was a leaflet by the TV listing adult offerings, a toy by the bed, and a cupboard like a mini fridge with costumes and other toys for sale. The other guests we saw didn’t seem to be there for that either, maybe they were in the same situation as us. If the adult stuff doesn’t bother you, it’s a great option for the price and what you get.

Our four nights were amazing, and I loved the men's face lotion and moisturizer in the blue bottles. I don’t usually use lotions, but these were so good that I wish I knew the brand or where to find them. The front desk women were very friendly, and the rooms were spacious with cool features like coffee, a jacuzzi, sauna, outdoor onsen, and infrared tiles. Breakfast was great too. We weren’t expecting service and amenities this good.
