The owner was frustrating to communicate with, which took away from what should have been a pleasant stay in Kyoto. Cleanliness was disappointing too: hair covered the floor, the bed looked used, and the kitchen utensils hadn’t been washed. The toilet brush was in especially appalling condition. I booked this apartment through Airbnb.

The living area feels roomy, and the beds were comfortable. This traditional lodging has been remodeled recently and sits in a lovely Kyoto neighborhood near Kitano Tenmangu shrine. It has all the amenities we needed, including a high-capacity washer and dryer and a TV. Highly recommend.
