KABIN Gion (formerly KABIN Minamiza)

The facilities are simple but do the job, and the location is great. We had a really good stay and would recommend it. The one issue was a child running and jumping in the room above us until 10 pm. A reminder about basic hotel etiquette and being considerate of other guests would help.

We were a family of five, and the room had plenty of space for us. It was clean and centrally located, with transport nearby and lots of good places to eat within walking distance.

The room was large and quiet, and the hotel is a decent modern option at a good price for being right in Ginza. Laundry was the frustrating part. Drying cost 100 yen per 30 minutes, but after 90 minutes our clothes were still nowhere near dry, and I think they would have needed at least another 90 minutes. As far as we could tell, you could only add time in 30-minute blocks, so we had to keep going back to extend it. In the end we took everything out and hung it up to dry.

The windows don't open, which was a shame since I would have liked some fresh air. The room itself had no strong smell, plenty of hangers, and a hair dryer. There were lots of towels, plus a self-service trolley on every floor with amenities. Check-in was online, and I checked out using the lobby tablet. You can also lock your suitcases on each floor. The location is very convenient, with Gijón Shijo train stop just around the corner and everything walkable. It can get noisy in the evening because it's on the street, and the walls are thin enough that you hear upstairs neighbors stomping.
