KIORI Hotel Takakura

There are plenty of great little hidden gem restaurants near the hotel, and we enjoyed staying here. The inn has a different feel from a big hotel. It has a laundry room, free coffee and tea around the clock, and bread in the morning. We arrived around 8PM and were greeted nicely. Check-in was quick and smooth. Our clean, simple, modern room had enough space to open two big suitcases. We stayed over New Year’s Eve, and they had a small countdown event with sake and noodles. A day before checking out, I sent my luggage from here to my next hotel in Kanazawa. It arrived right on time, before I checked in. Thank you!

I had a pleasant stay. The hotel is very well located for public transport, and the staff were professional and helpful. Most spoke English, so it was easy to communicate. My one suggestion is about the laundry. Having just one washer-dryer for the whole hotel seems insufficient. I know it’s clearly stated, but not being able to get coins or change a banknote for the laundry is inconvenient. The stay was positive overall, and better laundry facilities would improve it further.

The staff were really nice, and it was an easy walk to the subway. The surroundings were quiet, the bed comfortable, and the room had decent space. It’s a good stay at a new hotel. The only downsides for me were having just one washing machine for guests and the non-view room. Those big panels look like windows, but they aren’t.

We spent our last night in Kyoto here, and much preferred it to staying in the bustle of the Shijo Kawaramachi shopping area. The hotel felt very new, almost as if we were the first people in the room, and the price was very reasonable. The receptionist was friendly and spoke impeccable English. There’s a nice lounge for working or having coffee. Since the place is so new, the laundry room wasn’t operating yet. It’s a quiet, local area with cute bakeries, but still within walking distance of Nishiki Market. We’d definitely recommend it, 5/5 for us.
