The room was lovely, clean, and organized, and the vending machine outside was a great extra. The location means you have to deal with the other tourists visiting the area. Also, if you bring luggage, you’ll be carrying it up and down those stairs, which is no easy task. We weren’t told about that when we booked.

The location is really good. Go to nearby places early or late and they’re almost empty, and it’s perfect if you need to buy something. But the service is really bad. There’s no cleaning service, so after a few days I had a huge bag of trash in the room, and the towels weren’t changed. Don’t use the washing machine, it tore my clothes.

There are shops and places to eat right outside, and the price was extremely budget friendly. We found the beds comfortable, the rooms clean, and WiFi was included. The apartment style setup worked really well, with a small kitchen and a washer. The place was very well kept, and self check-in was easy. We got there half an hour before check-in, but our room was already ready. I even got to cross showering while watching TV off my life list. I’m impressed by the location, the guesthouse, and pretty much everything else. Highly recommend staying here.

Finding the place took a little effort, even with a map, since it's tucked up a quiet side street. Once there, we found the location excellent, very close to Kiyomizu-dera and the Higashiyama shopping district. We stayed four nights and had a generally positive experience. The room was basic but clean. The kitchen wasn't much use to us because there were no plates or cutlery. The walls and floors are thin, so we could hear other guests moving about and some outside noise, though the street was quiet most of the time.
