Kyoto Guesthouse Hostel Ayame

Hostel Ayame was my first stay in a traditional Japanese house, and it made a lovely introduction. I was excited by the antique room, but the hosts were just as memorable, so warm and welcoming. They suggested Tori Ramen, which was really good 😊 They also had a Gear 5 Luffy figure on display. I wanted to chat about One Piece for hours, but I was on vacation with my wife, so I held back as much as I could 🤣 It was a wholesome stay that I'll remember.

We had the best time here. We'd stayed in all sorts of places on this trip, from five-star hotels to capsule hotels, and this little house ended up being our favorite. It felt like a home away from home, and I'll remember it forever. Maybe I'll come back one day. The staff were incredible and would do anything for us. The rooms and facilities were so clean, and having a free washing machine on site was a real bonus. Our room had A/C and a dehumidifier/air purifier. Guests are asked to be respectful, with no loud noise before 8 or after 10 pm.

We slept peacefully and felt very comfortable during our one-night stay. The beds were lovely, and the Japanese-style house had a beautiful room and private garden. It's close to both a bus stop and a convenience store. Highly recommended.

The rooms were dirty and smelled bad. The host publicly insulted guests in responses, and the behavior felt hostile, disrespectful, and discriminatory. Huge red flag. Run!
