I was very happy with my few days here in August 2019. You're right in the middle of the city, just a short walk from famoous Gion district. The room is cramped, with tatami mats on the floor, and really gave me that feeling of being in Japan. Some wall hooks or a shelf would help with the clutter. After two days my stuff was everywhere, like a gypsy camp after two weeks, though it did look kind of romantic. Tea, coffee, and sweets are provided.

KyotoDaijingu is a lovely little temple, so try to stop by. This cozy spot is close to lots of other shrines and temples too. The location was great, and the staff were friendly and helped me figure out routes around Kyoto. Thanks, Judy, for the map and all your help. I enjoyed my stay.

The room I had was really spacious, and there was a free snack bar as well. It's a historic building, and Judy, the owner, was so considerate. Another staff member helped us plan our days and made some great suggestions. Such a nice place to stay.

I felt at home here and would come back. It's small but works well, and the rooms were clean. The girls were very kind, happy to answer questions, and had all the essentials ready for a few days. I'd definitely recommend it. 😄😄

They said they couldn't cancel the booking for free, even in an emergency. Their explanation was that the cancellation process was too complicated. Since it's a private guesthouse, I don't understand why that should be difficult.
