Just a short walk from the main shopping streets, this is a lovely little hotel with comfortable, compact rooms, a nice bath and wet room, and full air conditioning. The staff are really friendly, too. There's a Tag stationery shop right next door, and if you're into stationery like me, it's easy to spend wayyyyyyy too much money there. Great location, price, staff, and comfort. What's not to like?

The room was a little bigger and better designed than other hotels in Kyoto, and the sheets didn't trigger my skin allergies at all. It was much cleaner than other 3 star hotels I've stayed in. The subway is a bit of a walk away. I skipped breakfast since there are lots of cheaper options nearby.

The toilet smelled bad and was dirty when we arrived. We asked the staff to deal with it, but they only gave it a quick, inadequate clean. The smell stayed for our whole stay.

There's a Seven Eleven right outside for groceries, coffee, ice cream, and more. The hotel is very clean, with the train stop about a 10-minute walk away and a bus to Kyoto station roughly 3 minutes away on foot. Staff were extremely friendly and polite. You can leave your luggage on checkout day and explore without your bags. Rooms have a TV, power shower, electronic toilet with bidet and heated seat, air conditioning, and an air purifier. Breakfast was a tasty set menu, nicely presented. Highly recommend staying here. Happy to answer questions.

We really enjoyed staying at Kyoto Itoya hotel. The room was very clean and spacious by Japanese standards, and everyone on staff was friendly, hardworking, and attentive. Breakfast tasted great and had different options. Restaurants and a family market store are nearby, and the closest metro station is about a 10-minute walk. One drawback: they don't do a brief daily room clean for stays under a week. We were there for four nights, though towels were changed every day. We'd recommend the hotel 😊
