The location is good, and the room was clean. It felt more like an apartment hotel than a regular hotel, with a kitchen, small fridge, bath unit, table, and futons on a tatami floor in each room. The service was okay. They charge to the room, which isn't popular in this country, and rooms can accommodate up to three people. Seems very good for families and groups. Two supermarkets are within a 10-minute walk. There are also two nearby restaurants serving breakfast early: McDonald’s opens at 6am, and a Japanese-style restaurant is a 15-minute walk away.

Our two-night Airbnb reservation was canceled the afternoon before our vacation, with the explanation that the facility was suddenly unavailable. They sent an apology, but it felt insincere, and they canceled without waiting for my response. Since it was peak season in a popular area, finding another hotel cost me more than $3,000. I hope this helps anyone considering the place. I wouldn’t even give it one star.

I’d happily stay here again. The residential surroundings gave us a real feel for local Tokyo, and the subway was close by, making it easy to reach both downtown Kyoto and the mountain sights.

The location was good, but the stay fell far short of what we expected. We got a different room from the one we booked, and the photos had given a misleading impression. Noise was a real problem: the walls seemed paper thin, and we could hear everything our neighbors did. Communicating in English was extremely difficult.

The price felt a little high for what we got, especially with the poor room amenities and lousy receptionist. I was also shocked to find pubic hair stuck to a towel that was supposed to be fresh.
