Kyowara Tenjin

We stayed with a friend and his family and were very comfortable. The owner was lovely, and Kitano Tenmangu Shrine was close enough to walk to. I’d happily recommend the place. Thank you!

Having the whole house to ourselves was a big help for our large family, and we could relax without worrying about others. There are restaurants, supermarkets, and public baths nearby, which made the area convenient. The owner was so friendly and even came to see us off when we checked out. I took off a star because it’s far from Kyoto Station and there’s no washer or dryer. Our visit was short, so we didn’t get to make use of the facilities, but I’d like to come back and explore the neighborhood by bicycle.

This was my second stay. It’s a quiet residential area, nice for a peaceful evening, and there are family restaurants, supermarkets, and convenience stores nearby. You can get takeout or cook for yourself. There’s a nearby bus stop and several inexpensive paid parking lots, too. A lot of sights are walkable, including Kinkaku-ji Temple, Ryoan-ji Temple, Ninna-ji Temple, Hirano Shrine, and Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, so you can visit at your own pace. Kitano-Hakubaicho Station on the Arashiyama Electric Railway is close by, which makes getting to Arashiyama easy.

The heating wasn’t very effective, which was a shame. There’s a restaurant just a short walk away, and the location was really convenient.
