Higashiyama was a quiet, convenient area, and the hotel offered spacious accommodation at a good price. We also appreciated having a washing machine and microwave. There are several nearby convenience stores, a pharmacy open until 22:30, and a 24-hour supermarket within a 10-15 minute walk. Nishiki Market and Yasaka Shrine are around 15-20 minutes away on foot. There are plenty of parking lots nearby; the one across the street had the best rates, ¥1,200 for 24 hours on weekdays and ¥1,500 on weekends and holidays.

The room was very clean and the staff friendly. The mattresses were comfortable, though the pillows weren’t as good. Our air conditioning barely worked, and the washer in the room had several problems, including leaking water onto the floor. This could be a solid 3 or 4 star place if things worked properly.

The room was really spacious, and being on the top floor gave us a bit of a view of the temples. Check-in was easy. The elevator is small, so you might need to make a few trips if you have lots of bags. I’d stay again.

The room was huge, especially by Japan standards, and the location was great. The staff were super nice and helpful. Having a washer and dryer right in the room was really nice too.

Everything else was very good, but having to enter so many codes without anyone there to help was stressful. You can only reach a person over the phone. After a long journey, when you’re tired and dealing with other responsibilities, it takes a lot of energy. I didn’t find the process convenient.
