Mibu-Juku

The steep stairs up to the room could be tough for older guests. Still, I appreciated the elderly gentleman who brought my breakfast upstairs. I booked this ryokan because halal breakfast was available, and the package also included a prayer mat, compass, and a 'telekung' for women. Thank you for having me. 😃

That deep wooden tub was the highlight for me. We had a soak every day, just what we needed to recharge after walking around Kyoto. The bathroom was beautiful, too. The room had a lovely Japanese look with modern touches. It was clean, and the beds were comfortably firm. We were welcomed with ice cream, and the kind woman helping us let us check in early at no extra charge. The hallway walls are a bit thin, so closing the interior sliding door helps with noise from people coming and going. Guests should keep their voices down in the halls, though we didn't run into any real trouble. It's about 20 minutes from Kyoto Station, and we found plenty of food and drink nearby. There's also a Family mart right next door, handy for late-night snacks.

I only stayed one night and already wished I'd booked longer. The cosy room felt right for what I paid, and the bathroom had a sauna-like feature. There's a mini kitchen with a microwave, induction stove, and other bits. Thanks for having us, and especially for the handwritten welcome note in English. If you're reading this, I appreciated it! I had a wonderful stay last summer. The room was lovely and clean, with great air conditioning, and the service was thoughtful and really good.
