Minn Shijo Omiya

We had a great time in Kyoto and didn't want to leave the city or this place. The hotel was spacious and stocked with everything we needed, with a lovely design and very clean rooms. Its location in Shijo Omiya was convenient for getting around. The staff were wonderful, polite, and kind.

The front-line staff were the only reason this wasn't a zero-star stay. They kept trying to take responsibility and sort things out, even though the facilities and management let them down badly. We were at Minn Shinjuku Room 103 after an exhausting day and found a strange, unpleasant odor. There were no windows that opened or natural ventilation, so we had to run a very loud vent fan. The AC rattled too. A crew member switched it to quiet mode, but the loud rattling had returned by morning. The shower had no hot water. A crew member who wasn't even a technician spent an hour going between our room and the manager, trying to fix it. After all that late-night disruption, the water suddenly got hot on its own. We asked to move to a working room, but were told the hotel was full. They offered late checkout instead, which we didn't want because we just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. They also don't provide basic things like a toothbrush or toothpaste, which even basic Airbnbs in Japan provide. The manager is doing a seriously bad job maintaining the facilities. They need to repair the broken rooms and pay the workers much more, because the staff are doing a far better job than management. Avoid this place.

The room was clean, spacious, and nicely furnished, with a good layout and a washing machine. The sofa beds were very comfortable. It's in a central location, just two stops from the center, which made it a good spot for exploring independently and walking around.

The apartment had lovely beds, a dining room, a sitting area, and a kitchen stocked with Noritake crockery. It also came with a washer and dryer. The main Kyoto train station was five minutes away, and other local train and metro stations were just one and two minutes on foot. Such a lovely place to stay in Kyoto. I'd definitely come back when I'm here again.
