The big plus was the bikes. They’re included, and in Kyoto they’re incredibly useful. The location worked well for us, and there was air conditioning and a washing machine. The email replies weren’t very friendly. There’s nowhere to hang clothes to dry, just a few hangers, and the kitchen is very basic, with only one hot plate, for example. There’s also just one bathroom.

It looked really good, and Toji station wasn’t far. There was even an Amazon TV stick, so I could watch Netflix and YouTube. They had logged in to the Netflix account. No toothbrush or toothpaste, but I was totally fine with that.

A solid place to stay. It may not be the nicest around, but it’s cute and works well for larger groups.

The room was spacious and nice, though the place is a little way off the main road. Public transport is within walking distance, and the owner was available when I had questions.

A warm, quiet, affordable lodge with an old-style Japanese way of living.
