西陣之郷 Nishijin no Sato - Smart & Slow life in 100yrs Kimono Arthouse -

We had a comfortable, fun stay, and I’d happily come back next time I visit Kyoto. The owner’s care showed in all the little details, and this small townhouse was so cleverly arranged that it made me think I’d love to live in a place like it. We stayed three nights and four days during Golden Week, and never felt short of anything for a longer stay. Everyday essentials were worked into the design, there were cozy spots to relax, and doing laundry was easy, so we always had plenty of clean clothes. We even had a yakiniku grill plate and a takoyaki maker, which made eating in enjoyable. Four bikes were available too, handy for the nearby supermarket and sightseeing. Riding along roads we wouldn’t normally take as tourists was exciting, though the saddles were very hard. On the smaller bikes they were so uncomfortable that my feet started hurting after only a few minutes of pedaling. The facilities were just right for us, but there aren’t the usual hotel toiletries. It would help to list what guests should bring, like toothbrushes, makeup remover, and face wash, as well as what’s supplied. A few times I also struggled to find small items. A floor plan showing where they are, perhaps in the overview file, could make things easier. Those are picky requests, though. We were truly very satisfied. Thank you so much!

We stayed as a family and had fun trying the AI speaker to control the appliances. The TV also let us watch Amazon Prime and TVer, which made it easy to relax. The Kyoto atmosphere came through in the illuminated garden and all the little corners of the room. We loved it.

I liked everything about the stay. The house was cozy, the neighbors were quiet, and the owner was polite and upbeat, taking the time to explain and show us how things worked.

The service was awful. I transferred the money, then got a last-minute message saying my reservation conflicted with another booking and asking me to cancel. I should’ve picked a more decent hotel.
