We had a great three-night stay at Rinn Umekoji, easily one of our best places in Japan. It's a comfortable, modernized traditional Japanese house spread over two floors, in a very quiet neighborhood. Check-in happens at a nearby hotel, and the staff sent all the information needed to make that process smooth. The kitchen was fully equipped, so we cooked for ourselves, and the bathroom was comfortable and sauna-like. There isn't a parking space at the property if you're driving, though they suggested a few within walking distance.

The townhouse was a lovely place to spend two nights, with tatami floors and plenty of room for two. It could easily fit a family of 4-5 or two couples. Halfway through our trip, having a washing machine was really handy. After weeks of travel, we picked up delicious food from the department stores and ate together at the table.

It felt like relaxing at home, and the roomy space was a real plus. Having a toilet upstairs was convenient too. The travel agent had warned us about possible train noise, but I barely noticed any.
