Ryokan Kyoraku

I really recommend staying here. I spent four nights and found the room spacious and clean, with an excellent location about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station. The service was great, too. They even helped me send my luggage to my next hotel.

The location worked really well, close to Kyoto Station and the bus stations. Staff were lovely, and the room was clean and had everything we needed. A great choice if you want a traditional Japanese stay in Kyoto. I loved it.

The Japanese breakfast was especially good, and the hotel also runs activities like tea experiences and sake tastings. You can wear an original yukata in your room, or buy one if you like. There’s also a little pool, though it’s more like a bathtub than a proper swimming pool, and it’s still relaxing. The rooms are on the small side, but that fits with sleeping on the floor in a typical Japanese bed. The toilets are roomy and modern. The whole place, including the rooms, is decorated like a Japanese home, so it feels like a real Ryokan stay. Probably one of the best Ryokan in Kyoto.

The location is handy, close to the station and roughly between Kyoto’s sights. The bathroom is shared, as you’d expect in a Ryokan, but I never saw other guests or any signs they’d used the bathroom or shower. It was kept exceptionally clean the whole time.
