Ryokan shimizu was such a quiet place to stay, and I loved the private bath. I also got to try calligraphy. I think I did pretty well 😅.

The family running this ryokan was absolutely lovely. We stayed for two nights and had traditional breakfast included. What a wonderful place.

The complimentary breakfast was delicious, and the owners were warm and friendly. It’s a beautiful building within walking distance of Kyoto Station. Just be aware there’s a midnight curfew. This was my favorite place to stay on my Japan trip, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto.

The place itself was phenomenal, and the owners were wonderful. They recommended places for my friend and me to visit, and when we were leaving Kyoto, they even gave us umbrellas ahead of the incoming typhoon. Definitely the best place I stayed in Japan. I highly recommend it!

It’s an easy enough walk from Kyoto Station, and the service was excellent. The owner was friendly and paid attention to our needs and requests. We hadn’t booked the private onsen for our second night, but he asked if we wanted it and went to get it ready. That was a real plus, and we enjoyed our stay.
