Stay SAKURA Kyoto Gion North

I spent a week here and had no complaints. The room and bathroom were clean when I arrived, the staff were friendly, and the price was reasonable for my time in Kyoto. I'd recommend it.

I liked being so close to the hospital, and the location is excellent. Still, after five nights the constant sounds from neighboring rooms and upstairs got tiring. Traffic starts around 6am, and the ambulances are audible too. The carpets and sofa need refurbishing. There are a couple of steps at the entrance; although there's a wheelchair lift, staff didn't know how to use it, and bicycle seats were left right in front of it. Great spot, but plenty could be improved. Probably best for a short one-night stay.

Everything else was clean and fine, and the room was roomy with a convenient bathroom, though the bathroom itself wasn't as large. The main issue was how much sound came through the thin walls and ceiling. You could hear nearly everything, even during the supposed quiet hours at night. There were also quite a few stains on the bathroom walls, perhaps toothpaste, and marks on the bedroom walls and ceiling.

We only learned the night before checkout that there was a graveyard nearby, which startled and scared us and affected how we felt about the stay. The hotel can't change where it is, and we should have checked the neighborhood before booking, but we wish we'd known. We paid 30,000 Yen for three days and two nights. The rooms themselves were spacious and very clean. Check-in was tedious, with everyone's details needing to be written on a form, which felt like a waste of time.
