The rooftop view was amazing, and the location right across from the pagoda was fantastic. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the queen bed was one of the comfiest I've had in Japan. There can be loud street noise in the room now and then because of the building and room layout. If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs and you'll be golden. Great place, I'd stay again.

There's a mini mart right beside the hotel and a drug store further along, plus a couple of food options outside the tourist area. It's a nice place if you're driving. Without a vehicle, getting to tourist attractions is difficult, since there are no train stations nearby.

The rooms are beautiful and spacious. The twin beds can be pushed together, and the bathtub, though small, was bigger than the one at the other Japan hotel we stayed at. The corridor is partly open air, so rain falls into the building and onto an attractive inner rock garden. The staff are extremely kind. They do their best with English, and know enough to help; Google Translate can fill in a little more. Guests can borrow umbrellas by the door. It's a little far from the main attractions, about 30-60 minutes by bus to get places. Expect to use a lot of buses in Kyoto, since the train system isn't as extensive. The hotel is right beside two main bus stops and around a 6-10 minute walk from a train station. Across the street there's a great temple and garden with a museum, and you can buy a combination ticket for three nearby spots. The hotel is almost connected to a mini mart, so anything you need is right there.

The room has a kitchenette and its own washing machine, and breakfast is served in the bedroom. It’s in a calm spot with easy public transport access, handy if you’d rather avoid the crowds. Head all the way up in the elevator for rooftop views. ❤️
