Urban Hotel Kyoto

We tried the lunch buffet by reception and really liked the food. The restaurant also opens for breakfast and dinner at certain times. They offer Yamato service if you want to send luggage on to your next hotel. The train stations are nearby, about a 10 to 13 minute walk, and Fushime Inari Taisha shrine is literally next door. This was my first stay here and it was great. The staff are helpful and willing to assist with anything. Just be mindful of the windows, since ours opened very wide. I’d recommend it if you’re keeping an eye on your budget.

The hotel is handy if you’re traveling by car, with a short drive to and from the expressway. Staff are friendly and speak English, the value is really good, and breakfast is good too. You can load or unload right outside the lobby if nobody else is using the spot. The room felt very old, with dust on the windowsill, and the window light shutter was partly broken and wouldn’t close all the way. Parking costs 1500JPY per stay. The underground parking is a little tricky, but manageable in a standard-sized sedan.

The bed and bathroom were relatively clean, and the closest subway station is a 10-minute walk away. Still, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for the price. The room smelled bad, the AC kept blowing hot air, and there was a loud buzzing noise at night that made it hard to sleep. The newest appliance in the room looked to be 15 years old. A bad experience in Japan.

The location worked quite well, with a bus stop out front, subway and rail stations within walking distance, and Fushimi-Inari reachable on foot in about 20 minutes. The staff were very friendly. Our neat, orderly room had what we needed, including AC and a well-equipped bathroom.
