A lovely Japanese-style townhouse, set away from the busy road while still close to Nishiki Market and other parts of Kyoto. Staying somewhere that isn't a hotel made for a great experience.

The best place I've stayed!

The building was spacious, and I loved taking a long, comfortable soak in the tub. It was my first time staying at an inn with such a long earthen-floored passage. Getting a glimpse of how people once lived in Kyoto townhouses made it a valuable experience.

The location was great, and the room was clean with high-quality bedding. The thoughtful details and warm Japanese hospitality made our stay wonderful. We'll definitely stay here again when we visit Kyoto.

The machiya was lovely inside and out, and I felt right at home there. The location worked out really well too, my friends even complimented me for finding such a good place. Hotels and inns are nice, of course, but staying in a machiya was especially comfortable. I'd love to try a different one next time. Thanks so much 😊
