Glamping Village LEAF

A nice spot for glamping in Kumamoto, with mostly families staying there. The owners were friendly and helpful. They provide a BBQ with drinks, ice, vegetables, sauces, rice, and utensils at no extra cost. Breakfast was pastries, bread, and miso soup. There are lots of insects around, though.

We needed somewhere dog-friendly to rest after getting to #kumamoto, and this was our first glamping stay. Dogs can't sleep on the bed, but they can go anywhere else in the small cabin. My dog is black, fairly big, and not hypoallergenic, so I understand the rule. It was such a cute place, and I would've stayed longer if I could. The heated container-style cabin had comfortable space for four, especially if some are kids, and the blankets were nicer than at any hotel I've stayed in. It had a mini-kitchen with everything we needed, a hot shower, and an automatic toilet whose lid opens when you enter. There was a hair dryer, soap, disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste, and razors. Even BBQ sauce was in the fridge. The porch grill came with fresh charcoal, and the stay included vegetables, eggs, drinks, rice, and more. We bought meat at a market about 2km away. If you don't eat meat, there were carrots, potatoes, onions, garlic, eggplant, king mushrooms, and fresh shiitake for grilling. They had a big drink selection. Instant noodles, canned food, and hard alcohol were the only things we saw that weren't included. The staff were wonderful. She showed us around, came by to chat, and helped get the charcoal going. There was a shared area with a fire pit, karaoke, and a box sauna. In the morning, kids were playing on a trampoline. It was a lovely experience, and it's nice knowing we can travel with our dog without stress.

Each room has two huge beds, which was a welcome change. It felt like glamping at a music festival back home, and it's right by Kumamoto airport.

I stayed in early August 2023. It's a nice place for kids to play, and as someone who's always getting bitten by mosquitoes and doesn't like bugs, I found it had no mosquitoes and hardly any insects. The owner was very generous and friendly, and I'll definitely return. I hope guests treat the place well and help keep it clean, since the owners deserve kind visitors. I noticed Japanese families putting their trash in the shared bin before checkout, and I did the same. I'm not Japanese. I booked a room with two queen beds. The trailer house is simple but had everything I needed. You can see the thought and effort in its handmade design. It doesn't have the smooth finish of a hotel, but given how much work went into it, I think it's one of the best. For the BBQ, they provided charcoal, tongs, and seasonal fruit and vegetables, including apples, pears, bananas, mushrooms, carrots, and onions. I bought meat and seafood at the grocery store. Even in summer it wasn't too warm, since a breeze came through now and then. The owner went around helping guests with their BBQs. They burned mosquito incense to keep bugs away and put lanterns under the umbrella when it got dark.
