The Legato Inn Mifune

The baths and saunas were great, especially for sauna fans since there are two kinds of cold baths. I stayed overnight. You can’t take comics or magazines into the stone sauna, though some of the stone saunas have TVs, so there’s still something to watch.

For a business stay, it does the job, and the place still feels new, with generally clean facilities. But they seem to have cut back too much. The room has no loungewear, grooming items, mineral water, brushes, cotton swabs, toothbrush, or other amenities, so you have to get them at the front desk. The shower room has no bathtub and might feel cramped if you’re larger. The hallway from the elevator to my room looked clean, but there was a faint smell that bothered me.

There’s an izakaya on the second floor, which is handy, and a bedrock bath there too for an extra 1,200 yen. The large public bath was comfortable, with two types of saunas to try. My room was very clean and comfortable. The only convenience store within walking distance is a Lawson.

The room itself was very clean, but this was a business trip and my company booked the place. I checked with the front desk that I had an eco-plan with no room entry, yet staff went in by mistake. I’d left my carry-on open, with an envelope of cash and confidential company documents inside, because I wasn’t expecting anyone to enter, so I became suspicious. Staff seem to have poor communication. If you expect a typical business hotel stay, you may be upset. This feels more like a public bathhouse with lodging than a hotel.
