The landlady had been ill, so I was glad to hear she’s doing well and working energetically again. Talking with her over dinner brought back memories of my previous stay, and I’d like to see her again. She told me this is the seventh anniversary of her husband’s death. This was my first visit in eight years, and at first I couldn’t locate the parking lot. I called several times without getting an answer, but a neighbor eventually pointed me to the right place and kindly explained check-in to the inn. I got to my room straight away. It was a Japanese-style room on the second floor. The bathroom and toilet were shared, but that wasn’t especially inconvenient, and I could relax. Last time I used the family bath; this time I tried the large public bath with its panoramic whirlpool. It warmed me up and eased my travel fatigue. For dinner I ate at Sushi Tomo’s restaurant, Florida. I first ordered the sashimi and simmered fish set, then asked to switch to the tuna cutlet set. They served the simmered fish as a complimentary dish anyway, so it was a very satisfying meal. I’d definitely return if I get the chance.

The mother and son who run the inn were welcoming and kind, and the seafood was a real highlight. We had sashimi, simmered fish, and fried fish, all delicious. The atmosphere felt homey, and we had a very relaxing stay. This was our second visit, a few years after the first. Two adults stayed for two nights while on a fishing trip. The building has an old-fashioned feel, but our tatami Japanese-style room was lovely and comfortable. We had to leave early for raft fishing, and it was great that we could access the facilities early in the morning. Thanks so much.

The rooms felt relaxing and almost like being back home. The owner and landlady were both kind and quick to respond. Next time, I’d like to return with my family.

If you love traveling and have had enough of modern, polished lodgings, this unusual, nostalgic inn could be just right. The owner and his wife were lovely and treated us well. They shared lots of local stories while we ate, and dinner featured plenty of local seafood. For what the stay cost, we were more than satisfied. It’s a wonderful place to come back to, whether you’re traveling alone or with friends. It seems less aimed at couples or families.

I got this as a souvenir. The thick sushi roll was topped with a thick omelet and was really filling, though the omelet was quite sweet. I had no idea Minamiise Town had a restaurant like this. It looks like an inn, so I wonder if they serve lunch there. I’d like to visit someday.
