Shimayado-HOPE

I was here on a surf trip, and the setup made it a really comfortable stay. There’s a place to dry wetsuits and a semi-outdoor shower, and the owner surfs too, so he gave me detailed directions to the surf spots. The room was clean and roomy, and I liked the atmosphere throughout the property. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

After 15 years away, I came back to Tanegashima to visit my mother's family grave. Island Inn Hope was quiet, very clean, and comfortable. There’s a hot spring just a two-minute drive away. I booked breakfast too, and it was delicious. I’d love to stay here again on my next trip to Tanegashima. Highly recommend!

I was very happy with breakfast, and the gelato was delicious too. During our one night and two days there, I mentioned I was considering moving, and they gave me detailed advice about everyday life and raising children in the area. I’m seriously considering the move, so I’d like to come back for more gelato. Thank you for being so welcoming.

There aren’t restaurants or supermarkets close by, so if you want to stay in, it’s sensible to shop in Minamitane Town or somewhere else before check-in. At the inn, Tanegashima Gelato HOPE has pizza as well as ice cream, so you can get a snack or have lunch or dinner while waiting to check in. I stayed one night in a deluxe single. The room was clean and had the facilities and amenities I needed. I was glad the built-in TV let me watch YouTube, and the bathtub was roomy enough for a comfortable solo soak. At night there were very few cars on the road, though that might vary by season or day, and there are no streetlights on the surrounding roads. The property and building lights made the area feel bright. On a cold night, looking up at the stars with a hot drink was one of my favorite views. It’s a lovely place, and I’d stay again.
