Hotel Kinomezaka

It was lovely to pause here and have a quiet, reflective moment in a fast-moving world. The view is spectacular, and the early Japanese breakfast made it even better. I especially appreciated the local ingredients, the amazing Apple Juice, and the really refreshing spring water. Kohishikari rice would be great, though I’m sure they serve it at dinner. The property has several onsen baths, so staying there feels a bit like being at a ryokan while still having hotel amenities. Mr. Yamaguchi, the general manager, has done a great job keeping traditions while updating important parts of the guest experience, like online booking. A couple of small things could improve it: the main lobby could feel more relaxing and special with a subtle touch of Japanese cherry blossom or wood. I know putting guests’ names outside their rooms is customary, but it can feel sensitive for visitors from western countries. The bedding could also use a refresh, though I understand it would take a big budget and need to happen in the low season.
