Kominka Guesthouse Himawari

One of my favorite stops on the trip. The owner was lovely and made me a really good curry.

Our family of five stayed in a family-style room at this guesthouse, which has been converted from a barn. It was thoroughly clean and we were very comfortable. We went to the public bath at nearby Ofuku Roadside Station, then had the delicious keema curry here for dinner. Everyone in the family loved it, even our four-year-old. Because it’s a wooden building, you can hear noise from other rooms. With three kids, we worried they might disturb people, but the owner and other guests were all friendly and kind, and the kids had a great time. They’ve already said they want to stay at Himawari again. We appreciated the fun time with everyone and hope to return next year. This place suits guests who are considerate and have good manners, and who don’t mind hearing other people talking or making noise and enjoy meeting different people.

I was so happy this was my first guesthouse stay. The owner was really nice, and the other guests were easy to talk to, so we ended up chatting late into the night. When I arrived after dark, the stars were beautiful and left me amazed. The room and shower were clean and comfortable. If I get the chance to visit Yamaguchi again, I’d definitely stay here.
