Temple Hotel Habanobo

Minobu felt so peaceful, with bells and crickets in the background. We could rest, visit the temple, ride the ropeway, or climb the nearly 300 steps to the main temple. We joined Ken for teachings and prayers, and also took part in the sutras in the main temple. Such a memorable experience. Ken and his wife are incredibly kind. Ken spent a lot of time with the guests and was with us most of the time. The onsen, tasty food, and spacious, clean rooms made the stay feel magical. I'm at a loss for words to describe how much we enjoyed it. Thank you for looking after us and sharing your guidance.

I stayed two nights and wished I could have stayed longer. The rooms are lovely, clean, and simple, and the surrounding area is beautiful and calm. Each season would bring a different charm, so you could visit at any time of year. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Ken San, the head priest, gave us a wonderful introduction to Buddhism and showed us how to attend a service in his temple before we went to the morning service at the large temple. His wife cooked delicious vegetarian meals from fresh ingredients. Staying at Minobu Temple Hotel Habanobo felt authentic and gave me space for inner peace and self-understanding. I spent three lovely nights here and got to know Mr Ken, the priest, and his family. Early in the morning, Mr Ken took time to accompany us to the temple's morning prayer, which was an amazing experience. I also learned a lot from him about Buddhism and prayer, and read the English Buddhism booklets in the reception room. I'd recommend a stay here to anyone visiting Japan who wants to experience something different from busy, noisy Tokyo.
