It’s a good fit for a longer stay, with a kitchenette, microwave, fridge, TV, washing machine and free wifi. The breakfasts were great, and the place was quiet and comfortable, with lovely views and the ocean nearby. The main drag is a little far away, but taxi companies all seemed to know the place, and a ride into town, even at night, was around ¥1000. Incredible seaside sunsets are about a five-minute walk away, and swimming spots aren’t particularly far.

A beautiful setting, well-made rooms, and great value.

The rooftop sunsets were lovely, and the stars were even more impressive. Although it’s away from the city center and surrounded by sugar cane fields, it didn’t feel that far out of the way. I took off one star for the location. From our balcony we could see the fields, the sea, Uni Beach, Irabu Bridge, and Irabu Island. The room felt as convenient as home, with plenty of hangers and a balcony line for drying laundry. We could wash our snorkeling clothes for free, and I brought my own detergent. The bathroom window made it refreshing to look out at the stars at night and the sea in the morning. The owner was very friendly. This was my first stay in this kind of accommodation, and I found it more comfortable than a hotel. I’d happily return to Miyako Island and recommend it to everyone.

From the room you can see the bridge to Shimoji Island beyond the sugar cane fields, and it’s very quiet at night. The place felt warm and well cared for, and the value was so good it makes me want to return to Miyakojima. The room and cooking utensils and dishes were very clean. Water and three bottles of local tea were provided, along with daily toiletries and towels based on the length of the stay. The bed was comfortable, though the pillows felt a little too soft and flat. You can watch the stars and sunrise from the roof. When we left, the owner gave us a whole set of local scenery postcards and some local bananas. It felt almost like a hotel presidential suite. I noticed what looked like preparations to build a bigger lodging next door, and I’m unsure whether that could affect this perfect experience in the future.
