Hotel Nakayamasou

I booked the rooftop beer garden again because the view was pretty good and I liked the drinks and food. But I haven't had a good experience there recently, and I wonder whether the hotel is doing well. This place has a long-established wedding hall and other facilities. The building is old, and its age is hard to miss, though I think it has been cleaned thoroughly.

The food felt overpriced for what we got. At a company party, we chose the all-you-can-drink option, but they didn't bring a second drink, and when I went to get one myself, I was left waiting. My boss was angry with me the next day. Refills seemed difficult to get even with the beer garden's unlimited drinks. I first thought it was a one-off, but it seemed this had happened a few times, so I'm never going back.

We use this hotel for meetings and social gatherings. It's historic and shows its age, but it's spotless, the staff are polite, and it's a comfortable place. Mutamachi is a bit far, as other reviewers have mentioned, but they provide a bus for group banquets, so it isn't a problem. The ride is fun because everyone gets chatting. I haven't stayed overnight, so I haven't rated that part. I'll definitely come again.

We recently held a birthday party here and ordered the same food for the same price as last time. The lunch and dinner versions were very different in quality, which was a letdown. The organizer felt embarrassed in front of relatives and guests who had traveled a long way. The staff and service were good, otherwise. I'm taking off two stars for this experience. For a family member's 60th birthday, the food had been beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The staff were kind and served us well, and the atmosphere made for a lovely celebration. We'd wanted to come again when the occasion arose.
