The staff seemed more courteous than city hospitality, and the compact rooms feel worth the price for a normal business hotel. I stayed for an extended period. The bathrooms and toilets looked clean, though the rest of the rooms were fairly old. They were also so dark that I had to open the curtains all the way during the day or I’d feel depressed. There’s no key lock on the elevator, so people from outside can get in easily, and female guests should be careful. Most troubling, noise carries throughout the building. You can hear outside sounds, a neighbor snoring, doors opening, and even the TV from the hallway depending on its volume. I can tolerate that for a night or so, but several nights would be very difficult in a hotel where you’re meant to rest.

I picked this cheap business hotel in Morioka based just on price and location, and it turned out to be a great choice. From the outside I thought it might be old, but it had been renovated and the room was very clean. The toilet was state-of-the-art, with several charging outlets beside the bed. It may be one of the most modern business hotel rooms I’ve seen, especially at this unbelievable price. There’s parking too, so I have no complaints. I went out for a meal, though there’s an izakaya on the first floor where business travelers can eat and be done. I highly recommend it!

For the cost, I thought this was about as good as it gets. It was my first stay, and I was comfortable. The single room felt a little small, but the bed was comfortable. The unit bathroom wasn’t large, though it was very clean, and the washlet toilet was especially impressive. I’d stay here again.

The room was clean, the staff were friendly and smiling, and the food was amazing. I paid 8,140 yen for one night with two meals while in town for a live performance on the Nomitetsu Main Line, and the good food reviews online had me looking forward to it. I wasn’t disappointed. I’ve traveled for work for years, and if I’d known this place back then, it would have been my regular hotel. We ate at the attached izakaya, where the owner was a great guy too. They don’t serve raw food like sashimi, but I was very satisfied and would stay again when I’m in Morioka.
