I arrived to find the front door motion lights completely dead, so I had to fumble with the keypad in the dark. Then the electronic lock had no power either. Customer service told me to look for a box “next to the heating meter” with a key inside. Check-in felt like an escape room. I wondered how long the room had been left unoccupied, since it seemed even the landlord hadn’t checked it or the lock wouldn’t have run out of power. Inside, the floor was extremely dirty, with sand and obvious greasy marks. The bulbs weren’t broken, but they weren’t properly switched on, so I had to fix them myself. The first-floor tatami room sheets looked completely unwashed. I was only there one night, so I had to put up with them. It felt like no one was managing the place, with basic cleaning and equipment checks neglected. Was I there to stay overnight or do repairs? I love Japan and visited five times in 2025 alone, but this stay was unbearable. I hope nobody else has the same experience. Does the platform really have no way to manage landlords like this?

There was nobody on site to help. The electronic lock was dead, and reaching customer service felt like an escape room. We barely managed to find the spare key. The place was filthy, and there were lots of dead cockroaches. Looking at the Airbnb or Google photos, just imagine how run down it must look after about ten years. Apart from being a spot to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks on Sesoko Island, it was completely useless.

The picture made it look nothing like this. They must have cranked the beauty filter way up.

Don't trust the photos, they were taken five or six years ago. The place is dirty and clearly hasn't been cleaned well. Floors creak, dead bugs are on the dishes and other things, and there's rubbish left around, with cobwebs under the bed. The shower head is clogged too, so the water barely comes out properly.

It's wonderfully clean, neat, roomy, and comfortable, and everything feels very new. The only downside is how remote it is, though that makes it great for a family getaway where you can spend time together. There's one bathroom and two shared toilets, plus fast Wi-Fi and even electric games. Aeon Big Express is the closest supermarket, about a three-minute drive away and open until midnight. There's also a gas station and Daiso next to it.
