We had a roomy corner room at the back, with a lovely view across the valley in two directions. Breakfast was distinctly Japanese, which didn’t suit everyone’s taste. The best restaurants are up in town, about a 15-minute walk uphill, though walking back through the snow is pleasant and all downhill. The location is hard to fault, right opposite the Akakura Kanko Gondola, though it’s still a 200m walk from the front door to reach it. I’d highly recommend staying here.

The rooms feel dated, but for the price the location and service were great. We had a really good six-night stay at Hotel Moc. The staff were helpful with tips on tickets and shuttle buses, arranging taxis when we needed them, and even picking us up from some resorts when we asked. We don’t speak Japanese, but they were great about helping us. It’s an easy 15-minute walk to the main Myoko shops, and there’s a gondola across the road for Myoko Akkakan ski resort.

We had plenty of room, good beds, a small onsen and really good, affordable dinners. The staff were great too. There’s a lift nearby, though town is about a 10-minute walk away. For the price, I can’t think of anything we needed that was missing or bad.

We had such a great stay at Hotel Moc! The staff were fabulous and helped us whenever they could. If you’re going to Akakura Kanko, I’d definitely stay here. Thanks, Hotel Moc!
