Mitani Ryokan

My room looked out onto a lovely garden. Although this is a historic traditional house, it has modern facilities. The lady showed me sightseeing maps and explained a little about the house. She said the bathing room is cleaned in the afternoon and open in the evening, and that I’d share it only with the owners, not other guests. The large bathtub helped take away the tiredness from a day of cycling. Breakfast was hearty and colorful, with lots of small dishes to choose from, including fish, vegetables, and soups. The house is clean and tidy, with elegant Japanese details, and I was impressed as soon as I came in. It’s conveniently close to Nagahama’s main shopping streets, yet quiet and peaceful at night. The warm, friendly lady greeted me at the door and made me feel at home right away. I’m so glad I found this place. The owners really know how to make guests feel welcome, and I hope to return one day!

I was cycling around Biwako when unexpected daytime snow caught me out. By the time I reached the Ryokan, I was cold, wet, and tired. The owner even took me to a nearby shopping mall to buy extra clothes. The owners were so friendly and humble that I felt at home. They served a tasty dinner and breakfast with plenty of homemade dishes, enough to fill my hungry belly. One of the best experiences of my travels.

The food was amazing and the facilities comfortable. The hosts at this Ryokan were absolutely lovely, and it’s right among all the great shops and restaurants. A highlight of our trip!

I was served tea and given suggestions on where to eat. The family who run this Ryokan are so warm and caring. My room was beautiful, with a view out over the garden. It’s a wonderful Ryokan : )
