Nagano Daiichi Hotel

The rooms are small, but it’s cool.

The hotel is very close to the station, with plenty of restaurants nearby for dinner. Breakfast is part of the room rate, and I was happy with the portions of hot soba, inari sushi, and salad. There are free drinks in the breakfast area, and the vending machine by reception is free too. It uses cups, though, so leave your belongings in your room before getting a drink. Storage in the room is limited, and the bathroom and toilet are small. The large public bath helps make up for that. Cleaning didn’t seem to be an issue. The room door has an old-style acrylic keychain lock, so make sure it’s properly locked.

The breakfast soba came out piping hot and was delicious. There were other side dishes too, and the staff were friendly and helpful, so I’m glad I picked this place. It’s close to the station, but tucked one street away, which kept things quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. The communal bath is small, but it warms you right through. The women’s bath is on the fourth floor and has no open-air section. The water was a little hot, though the changing room was clean and I could relax. The TV lets you check how crowded the bath is. I stayed here after a drinking party near Nagano Station. The price was very reasonable, and having breakfast included plus access to the large public bath was a big bonus. I really enjoyed the breakfast soba. 🍜 I’d stay again if I’m in the area.
