The standout for us was Front Office Manager Daesan-san and his team. I left my bag on the airport bus, with my computer and passport inside, and within 15 minutes Daesan-san had tracked down where it was and arranged to have it brought back. That kind of help will make us return. We found Hotel Indigo Nagasaki while planning our Nagasaki trip as IHG members, and it turned out to be the best Indigo we've stayed at. The whole place has a boutique feel, with lovely rooms, a pleasant, efficient breakfast dining room, and excellent service. Yudai-san and the front desk team were professional and helpful. Thanks also to Yoshi-san in the dining room and Nao-san, whose cappuccino was the best this side of Italy. Even the walk into town was quite reasonable for us. We loved our stay. Thank you!
We came back to this beautiful hotel for four nights after exploring Nagasaki, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout. Daesan H., the front office manager, was especially thoughtful. He offered transport tips and ideas for things to do, and even offered to take photos as we left. When an emergency forced us to cancel our first booking, he also helped move the credit smoothly to our rescheduled stay. The room was just right, the gym was clean and well equipped, and breakfast at the restaurant was consistently delicious. Thanks to everyone at Hotel Indigo Nagasaki.
Getting around on public transport meant dealing with slopes whichever way I went, so next time I’d bring a car. The staff were professional, though only a little short on warmth. I’d still come back, absolutely. My diamond-member upgrade was a real treat: they put me in one of the hotel's best rooms, and left a local confectionery welcome gift. Even the standard rooms are larger than a typical Japanese room. The suite was beautifully done, especially the colors and bathroom tiles, though the bedroom itself was tiny and there was just one small bin for the whole suite. Breakfast was tasty, but the selection was small and you have to reserve, which is awkward when I don't know in advance if I'll want it. I also found someone had cleaned my room despite the DND sign being up.
Breakfast was one of the best parts of my stay, especially the salmon, which the warm, attentive kitchen team prepared perfectly. My spacious, well-arranged room looked out over the harbour, changing from soft morning haze to a glittering city at night. Everyone, from reception to the restaurant, made me feel welcome and at home. The building dates to 1898 and was once part of the Jesuit “Garden of Mary” monastery. Its quiet corridors and small details made me feel the history around me. The hotel is in Nagasaki's historic district, among cobbled streets, old churches, and the former foreign settlement. Glover Garden is a short walk away on the Minami‑Yamate hillside, with Western-style merchant villas, including those associated with Thomas Blake Glover, and broad views over the bay and city. It was easy to sense Nagasaki's connections with the wider world there. The Atomic Bomb Museum and Peace Park are also within easy reach. Being able to visit these places in one day felt like moving through different parts of Nagasaki's story, from faith and trade to war and reconciliation. I hope I can return someday.
We found the room spacious and really comfortable, and the staff were great. They all spoke English, brought us tasty tea and a local snack while we waited to check in, then showed us around the room and its amenities. Someone at reception even booked an omakase for us and remembered my partner's allergies. The hotel's own parking was full when we arrived, and I hadn't realized it needed to be booked. There are only about 3-4 spots, so they directed us to another lot three minutes away and gave us a card. Parking there costs 2200 yen a night. The hotel is a bit of a walk from the “city”; Chinatown was the closest area. There's a little neighborhood of stray cats nearby, say hi if you have a chance ;)
