The breakfast was what brought us here, and both mornings had a great spread of fresh pastries plus Japanese and Western food. They even let breakfast guests take drinks to go, which was handy and generous. The hotel itself was cleaner and better staffed than we expected, with attentive service and useful amenities, and it’s right in the middle of Nagoya’s action, good value too. The snag was the APA app promotion. At check-in we were told we could get JPY500 for installing it, plus another credit based on our room charges to spend on hotel items, including their tasty "President's Curry." We tried several times and asked the front desk for help, but couldn’t install the app because it apparently requires a Japanese operating system. I hope APA hotels runs similar offers through its English apps in future, since we couldn’t use this one.

The commercial area around the hotel felt pretty unclean. Inside, though, it was clean, the staff were really friendly, and the location right in the heart of Nagoya was excellent.

There are restaurants and malls nearby. The room and bathroom are small, but clean. The elevators are quick, and upstairs there’s an onsen along with coin laundry, a microwave, an ice machine, and a drink vending machine.

I got a room at a good price for an emergency stay. The room was very small, with a desk, and the toilet room was small too. You can’t control the air conditioning yourself. As far as I know, APA hotels have onsens, if you don’t mind using public baths.

We’re very unhappy with this stay. The bathroom had mold, and our room smelled of smoke even though we’d clearly requested a non-smoking room in the booking a month earlier. They wouldn’t change our room, and the staff were unfriendly.
