Gold Stay Nagoya Osu

We found the room clean, practical, and easy to settle into, with a sofa, TV, Netflix, fridge, and washing machine. The sleeping setup worked well for four, so it seems especially suited to families or groups. Gold Stay Nagoya Osu is also handy for exploring, just a short walk, within two blocks, from the Osu shopping area. We'd stay here again.

We booked through Trip.com for two adults and two children, and when our plans changed, my husband offered to stay in the room in place of our older son. That still meant four people, as booked, and we were willing to pay an extra fee to update the registration. The staff refused to let him into the room at all because he wasn't listed as a registered guest. They wouldn't let him help us settle in or bring in luggage either, and when I asked again the next morning, the answer was still no. We checked out early and lost the payment for one night. Only as we were leaving did they offer us an upgrade for an additional cost, which was too late. I've stayed in many hotels across Japan and valued the warm hospitality, so this was shocking. Their rigid rules and unkind service ruined our family trip. Families should be aware before booking.

The main drawback was getting back to the hotel when we were tired. It's not terribly far, but neither the bus stop nor train station felt close enough for a quick return. Otherwise, we had a great two-night stay. The staff were lovely, and the kids enjoyed the big room with two bunk beds, adults below and children up top. There's a washing machine, and pressing a button turns the bathroom into a dryer. That worked perfectly. A water purifier meant we didn't have to buy water. If you book through the official site, you can use the steambath or sauna once per night, a fun extra. I recommend the hotel.

I had a great time at Gold Stay and hope to return. We stayed in the jungle bedroom, which had a bunk bed and lots of animal plushies in different sizes. The room was pretty spacious, with a big bathroom, dishes and utensils, a sink for washing them, and a fridge. Gold Stay really was a golden stay!
