The lodge has air conditioning and heating in the rooms, plus a microwave, electric kettle, iron, and washing machine. Toiletries depend on the booking, and the baths and washrooms are shared with other guests. There’s a vending machine just outside for a drink whenever you want, and a 24x7 supermarket is close by. It’s walking distance to Shiga -hondori station, and a good place to stay for a few nights while seeing Nagoya, Japan, if you want a traditional Japanese-style sleep on carpets and matresses.

The owner blamed the mess on us getting a cheap place when I complained. I don’t think a low price means it’s okay to be unclean, and this was my worst experience in Japan. The bath was old and yellowed, some cushions were yellowed too, and the shelf was dusty. It was so dirty that all of us got itchy. No one mentioned anything about the listing until I asked why there was no wifi. We arrived exactly when we said we would, but the key box on the door didn’t have the key, just a weird metal part, so we were locked out of our own room for about half an hour. Once we got inside, the key was attached to the wall. How could that even happen!? I didn’t know Japanese hospitality could be this awful.

We felt at home here and had a comfy stay. The host was great, and the place is near Shigahondori subway station. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone coming to Nagoya.

We stayed here two years ago, and after trying different ryokans in other Japanese cities this year, none measured up to Miyuki Ryokan. For the price, cleanliness, and convenient location, it’s a really good deal.

They reply to messages quickly and share helpful suggestions for food, places to visit, public baths, and coin laundrys. The room, bathroom, and restrooms were all nice and clean. You’re near a Combini, markets, the subway, restaurants, and an onsen. Highly recommend.
